Discover the Amazing Senses of Cats

Understanding how animals sense the world can be tricky for us humans since our own senses have limits. Figuring out things we can’t experience directly is tough. Mammals have different senses that evolved to meet their needs. Luckily, the cat has become a useful model for studying the brain and senses, giving us insights into their abilities that most other animals don’t provide. Even though our pet cats share our homes, we shouldn’t assume their experience is the same as ours. Their senses, unchanged from their wild relatives, let them see, hear, and smell things we can’t. Although our senses might be a bit better in some ways, the overall result is that a cat’s perspective on the world is quite different from ours.
